Episode 16: Why HOPE shouldn’t be part of your event
There’s nothing wrong with hope. Giving someone hope can change their life. I am arguing that HOPE (the word hope) shouldn’t be part of your event.
I’m going to tell you WHY I feel this way. I may not change your mind but hopefully I’ve made you think about a few things.
In this episode I share:
The 3 reasons why HOPE shouldn’t be part of your event
The #1 reason donors stop giving, or choose not to give in the first place
What to do if you have HOPE in your event name, theme or messaging.
Have I given you enough reason why hope shouldn’t be part of your event? I’d love to hear your thoughts. You can connect with me on social media, in the private facebook community or contact me directly.
Listener Action Item:
If you use the word HOPE as part of your event, brainstorm words you could use to replace it. What actionable words that lead to measurable outcomes can you come up with.
Event Name: If your event name has the word hope in it, you should rebrand it. Put a date on the calendar for a few weeks after the event ends to start that rebranding process. Need help coming up with a new brand name? Learn more about my course: Event Brand Bootcamp.
Event theme: If your event theme has the word HOPE in it, brainstorm a list of action words related to your cause or organization or your funding campaign.
Event Messaging or Script: Rather than messages of giving hope, focus on the impact your organization can and will make with the support of the people at the event. Use active words such as AIM, PLAN, BELIEVE, WILL, EXPECT. These are all so much more powerful than HOPE.
